What We Offer

UMG products are based on polylactic acid (PLA) technology, with added ingredients that provide greater formability and heat and wear resistance versus products made from pure PLA, sugar cane or potato starch. We accomplish these objectives by blending resins with biologically produced polymers (PLA), biomass fillers (plant starches) and biodegradable polymers (shortened molecular length polymers designed to easily succumb to microbiological activity). Patented proteins that accelerate polymeric breakdown/anaerobic biodegradation are also incorporated. Our products are engineered to biodegrade in the anaerobic/lightless conditions of a landfill or biodigestor through naturally occurring non-toxin–generating processes. No sorting or special composting is required.
